Good quote. =)

"Writer's block…a lot of howling nonsense would be avoided if, in every sentence containing the word WRITER, that word was taken out and the word PLUMBER substituted; and the result examined for the sense it makes. Do plumbers get plumber's block? What would you think of a plumber who used that as an excuse not to do any work that day?

The fact is that writing is hard work, and sometimes you don't want to do it, and you can't think of what to write next, and you're fed up with the whole damn business. Do you think plumbers don't feel like that about their work from time to time? Of course there will be days when the stuff is not flowing freely. What you do then is MAKE IT UP. I like the reply of the composer Shostakovich to a student who complained that he couldn't find a theme for his second movement. “Never mind the theme! Just write the movement!” he said.

Writer's block is a condition that affects amateurs and people who aren't serious about writing. So is the opposite, namely inspiration, which amateurs are also very fond of. Putting it another way: a professional writer is someone who writes just as well when they're not inspired as when they are."

Excuse me??

"PostSecret Events are being planned now for many cities and schools including: Washington, California, Texas, Ohio, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Tennessee, South Carolina, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Kentucky, Mexico, Canada and more."

This is incorrect for so many reasons! That list is not of cities nor of schools and should therefore not be introduced as such. Also, please do not list Canada like a state of the US!! And nor is Mexico. DISPLEASED.

Bus Stop Funnies.

So, on occasion, instead of trekking it to work as I usually do, (because let's face it, it's really the only exercise I get, sadly) I will wait for the bus. The bus stop where I wait at has an old cigarette box lying on the ground, french side up, and every time I take the bus I always have to laugh at it, because it says: "le tabagisme peut vous rendre impuissant" followed by a droopy cigarette. HAHAHAHA. I suppose that's encouraging enough for half the smokers to consider quiting xDDD

Coffee Addictions

They thoroughly amuse me.

This morning, when I got to work, the electricity was still out from the weekend (they were doing some weird work or something). There were people who asked the caf lady whether there was coffee yet. Sorry, fellas, but when the building doesn't have electricity, HOW THE HELL IS THERE SUPPOSED TO BE COFFEE?! So instead, these people found it prudent to just get their coffee at the plaza nearby.

Really, people?! Are you that addicted to that stuff? I'm glad I'm an alright morning person, once I manage to pull myself out of bed after 10 minutes of confusion, that is.

Friendless!

So, I cleaned up my Facebook "friends" and my MSN contact list. Realization strikes: I'M SUCH A LONER. And antisocial on top of that.
I couldn't help but ask myself, "How on earth did I get this many contacts that I DON'T EVEN TALK TO?!?!" My wrist was definitely cramping up by the end of all the "right click-delete-are you sure you want to delete?" clicking!
I suppose it's really the past me's fault. I used to love having everyone's contact because then I could talk to a million people and it just felt nice to have friends. But rreally, all I had were acquaintances. BAH. So now, after clearing my lists, I have, like 20 contacts on MSN, which sounds about right, and 30-someodd on Facebook, but that includes people that I may have to associate myself with later on, so I've kept them. It also includes TWLOHA and The Canadian Olypic Team =).

When did I get this antisocial?!?!

When I get my own place...

I will not have ANY carpet. ANYWHERE. I hate it. Even if I know it's clean, I'm always reluctant to lie on it. Or maybe it's just this student housing business I'm in. for starters, I think they all put in dark carpet to cover up everything that's ever been on it. I'm not even venture a guess about the things that have ended up on the ground.
Then again, I suppose if the carpet is closer that what I have at my home (in Markham), it's a bit better, since I KNOW there isn't anything... uh, overly suspicious that's been in the carpet. I guess it also keeps the place a bit warmer in the winter too =T.
Anyway, if I got to choose (and had unlimited moneys), I would definitely have hardwood flooring everywhere that I don't have tiling. It just makes cleaning up so much easier, and spills are easier to clean out (unless of course, it's hot, or red wine, which to me, really can't be good ANYwhere when it's spilt). I would be able to consider people coming over, since I wouldn't have to be super stressed about anyone making a mess on my carpet.

In other news, I had an ACTUAL OCD-ish moment today: at lunch, I sat across from my friend, because, well, let's face it, who sits beside them when it's just the two of you? It took me less than five minutes, however, to pack my stuff and move across the table because it simply didn't feel right to be sitting on that side of the table. My friend asked if it was because I was a people watcher too (we were facing, kinda, the doorway to the caf), and I found, painfully, that this was not the case, just that I was on the wrong side. No reason. And then I thought about it, and realised than whenever I get to choose my place at a table, I will ALWAYS choose to sit facing the exit/entrance to the place.

Well, that's new.

On TV

1. PC commercials. Where are they shooting them because that barbeque one looks SO GOOD. And the ice cream one. mmmmm.
2. This KFC commercial I just saw. Pretty much the gist of the commercial was: get fast food so you can spend less time in the kitchen and more time with your family. From my experience, fast food doesn't make you spend more time with your family. You get fast food when you don't have anything else in the house, or because you need to eat fast before heading to work on something again. For me, being part of the family means making the dinner together, because sitting down for one hour really isn't that great. And the homemade food makes it that much better.
3. Shows like with names like "America's Best Dance Crew". With so many seasons, you can't REALLY call it BEST, because once there's more than one, you're only just better than everyone else you beat that season.
4. Celebrity Gossip shows, like etalk. Why exactly do I care about some weirdos whom I don't even know except through the television set? And even then, they're just acting. You can't honestly think I really care about who is going to rehab, or which hot couple broke up? And then when people talk to me about stuff like that and I'm going, "What??", they look at me incredulously. -.-"
5. This strange wedding show that I keep happening upon. I enjoy watching this show because people are just SO STUPID, it makes me laugh ridiculously. LOL. Weddings are supposed to be personal and private, isn't it? And I'm not criticizing that couples want wedding planners, because some people need help. But to display it for EVERYONE to see? Currently, the groom is going on all about "the wow factor". WTF. A wedding should be for you, and honestly, if I EVER manage to get married, I don't care if my guests like what I've planned, because I will probably like it and if's going to be my, quote, "most important day of my life", I'm gunna do it that way I want it. Also, I'd like to have some money left over to live my life. -.-"

That's it for today. And I like that I'm posting very frequently =P

Another obscure post.

Well, looks like I'm posting more frequently! O.o

So, question I found online: Roses on your table or diamonds on your neck?

First thing that came to mind? NEITHER.
Many would say that roses are awfully romantic but I would have to disagree. Let me remind you that FLOWERS TEND TO DIE. Now is that really the message you want to be sending your significant other? That, just like those flowers, your love for them is going to eventually die? NO THANKS. You can keep those overrated presents. Also, they would probably make me sneeze lol. And store bought roses really aren't as pretty as the tiny ones you can grow yourself - these ones will bloom every year too =P.
On the other hand, unlike those dying flowers, diamonds will last forever. This is true. But really, what is the purpose of a diamond? To me, a diamond is really just a close friend to graphite. I would use (and have used) diamond to polish things, or to cut other things with precision. Also, they're a waste of money, especially if you happen to lose it somewhere. Imagine what you could do with that money: donating it, or saving it for, I dunno, your kid's future or something (-.-"), or create SO MANY MORE memories by going out and doing fun thing. Because let's face it, diamonds may last forever, but you really only have the one memory with it. Also, you probably don't wear it all that often anyway.

Does this make me any less double-x chromosome-ed? Or have a lack of romance? Well, pity that is. I'd rather be realistic anyway. =)

Perk #64 of being short.

I can go buy cheap jeans meant to be rolled up capris and wear them as full length pantss. The flipside is that I can't buy regular pants without having to hem them, or wear shorts because they make me look odd. Though it might be because I have ghostly legs than I can't wear shorts. HMMM. I'm happy enough though!
Yep that's right. I went to the mall. FOR CLOTHES. Then again, this was because I didn't have enough pant's I didn't care enough about to ruin at work. The excursion was more of a need than a desire. I stopped by two stores, and I didn't even bother walking around to see what else there was. LOL. I went for the sole purpose of getting pants, and black nail polish. I think I've had enough of mall excursions for now!

I occasionally wish I wasn't Asian

Or rather, I just wish, on occasion, that I didn't have such Asian hair. It's so dark and pigment-ed that it's impossible to dye it fun colours. Imagine what I could do with my hair if it was naturally lighter than what it is now?!?! It could be so colourful! Then again, maybe it's a good thing because now that I'm 20, I should act my age. Which includes hair, I guess. =(
