It's been a while...

//.edit] Change of lyt. It's really pink, isn't it? But I think I really hate how things are done on blogger, or maybe cus I haven't gotten used to it. I think I'm just going to change backgrounds and fonts every so often only. ACK. Xanga's so much easier doh><"

... since I have blogged or changed this horrible lyt;
... since I've had so much work;
... since I've worked so hard on a Friday night;
... since I've finished big assignments a few days in advance;
... since Kiwanis Festival adjudicators have hated us.

Knowing that Kiwanis would take up my whole Saturday, I worked quite diligently this past week on my English ISP journals. Ms. Robertson doesn't think I'm missing anything on them, so that's all I'm going to do.

Kiwanis yesterday was HORRIBLE. "So, I think that in order to do well tonight, we should pull out a lot and miss a lot of notes." - Mr. Colley. That is what he said when we came back for the challenge piece. Our entire band had been demoralized by the results of the competition. For the past two years, we've always placed, it didn't matter if it was first, second, or third; at least we placed. But what happened yesterday was just RETARDED. I'm am not in the habit of putting down other schools, but quite honestly, the school that got first IN EVERY SINGLE CATEGORY was not the best school there. Their "Slava" was not the greatest. Practically our whole band agreed that the only bands that should have placed were Huron Heights, Markville, and us. It's not like I'm TRYING to sound like we're the best, we were certainly did not deserve what we got. The march class was ridiculous too. Lawrence Park beat us with their portrayal of Black Granite. Okay, so ours wasn't perfectly controlled, but we weren't all about power. But then again, we'd only spent two weeks on that march, but somehow, ours STILL sounded better. ULGH and Aurora didn't even play that well AGAIN. But guess who was first again? AURORA! When we were waiting for the results and third and second place were announced, it was just "first or forth" going through our minds, but how in the friggen world, did AURORA get it?! We went back to our practice room low in spirits. But then we just started bashing the adjudicators. And Wendy Wong went and talked to Colley, and came back saying he didn't respect the adjudicators. And I was shocked. Him, being easygoing already was ticked? That doesn't happen often.
Dinner was over and when he came back, he said that quote mentioned above, and it seemed enough to perk everyone up. It no longer seemed to matter that the adjudicators were a bunch of blind and deaf "dodos", because we knew we were good, so screw them. When we played "Chorale and Shaker Dance" it was the best we ever played. Maybe it was the need to show them we could play, or maybe it was the anger that was driving us, but it was freakin' awesome. Once again, didn't place (Aurora got first, AGAIN), but on the bus, we were just so proud of ourselves and the way way we played, that we were happy, despite it all. So i suppose it was a good experience and all, but it's just soo aggravating how stupid those dumb jerks were. And you know what? Ironically, at the end of the night, they were all for playing with musicality and with passion, not all about the notes and technicalities, but they simply just seemed to overlook the fact that we were all those things and more, and somehow, a school that did miss notes and were out of tune, and the ones to win. Did I mention that the adjudicator this year was the same one who completely "forgot" to mention us in the grade nine competition we were in? You know what I say? I say, "Whatever, SCREW YOU."
